Written by Teodora

In today’s fast-paced and demanding work environment, acknowledging the importance of mental health has become essential for creating a thriving and productive workforce. The impact of a safe and healthy workplace extends far beyond mere job satisfaction – it directly influences overall organizational success.

Mental Health and Its Influence on Work

The World Health Organization recognizes that fostering a safe and supportive work environment can significantly reduce tension, conflicts, and turnover while simultaneously boosting productivity and performance. Numerous factors pose risks to mental health in the workplace, such as overwhelming workloads, inflexibility, discrimination, and lack of job security. These challenges can hinder employees from utilizing their skills effectively, leading to stress, burnout, and reduced job satisfaction.

The Alarming Reality

Recent reports by “Indeed” and Gallup shed light on the escalating concerns related to mental health at work. Shockingly, 30% of employees report being constantly available, while over 50% regularly work overtime. Burnout has become an increasingly prevalent issue, stemming from limited leisure time, excessive workloads, and communication gaps with superiors or colleagues.

CIIB’s Dedication to Employee Well-being

At CIIB, we firmly believe that prioritizing employee well-being is the foundation of a successful organization. We are committed to fostering a work culture that empowers our team members and enhances their overall quality of life.

Promoting Work-Life Balance

Recognizing the significance of work-life balance, CIIB takes proactive steps to ensure our employees’ well-being. Right from the beginning, we offer 25 days of annual vacation and flexible working hours for most positions, allowing employees to begin work between 06:00 AM to 09:00 AM. While this benefit may not apply to certain roles in Customer Support, we strive to provide the best possible working conditions, ensuring that daily shifts conclude by 6:00 PM.

Embracing Remote Work

Understanding the preferences of our employees, we have adopted a remote-first policy. This empowers our team to work from home, saving valuable time spent on commuting and accommodating those residing outside Belgrade. While the option to work from the office remains available, it is not mandatory. We wholeheartedly value the importance of free time and will always seek ways to facilitate its realization.

Listening to Our Employees

To further enhance our work environment, we have introduced an organizational health survey, allowing us to gauge employee satisfaction and address areas that require improvement. We firmly believe that content employees are more likely to contribute their best efforts, and we are committed to actively incorporating their feedback into our practices.

Balancing Workloads and Overtime

Striking a balance between workload and employee well-being is paramount. Although occasional periods of increased work volume may necessitate overtime, we diligently compensate our team either through paid overtime hours or offering the opportunity to utilize accrued overtime for additional time off.

Continuing Our Journey

CIIB is dedicated to continually monitoring employee satisfaction and evolving our practices to create an environment that nurtures mental health. Our ultimate goal is to achieve a harmonious equilibrium between professional fulfilment and personal well-being, mitigating factors that adversely affect the mental health of our valued team members.
